🇩🇪 BerlinAbout Blumental
About
Blumental in Berlin is more than just a café - it's a sunny oasis situated at the green Engeldamm, nestled between the vibrant districts of Kreuzberg and Mitte. The café is housed in a historical building, which once was the first trade union house in Germany and also hosted the Institute of Tropical Diseases. Today, it functions as a café, restaurant, bar, and event space, alongside providing a coworking zone perfectly equipped with fast WIFI and plenty of power outlets. Run by a dedicated collective of gastronomes, chefs, and designers, Blumental aims to create an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness. The café's philosophy encourages relaxing, soaking up sunshine, and nourishing the body with delicious vegan-vegetarian meals. In the open kitchen, one can watch chefs prepare fresh, plant-focused dishes. Sustainability is key here, as a compost machine processes organic waste into humus used for the café's plants. The café promotes a cycle of giving back, where racism, discrimination, and confetti are not welcome, but dogs are. Whether for a quick breakfast, a leisurely lunch, or relaxed hours with coffee and cake, Blumental welcomes all guests with open arms and a smile.
Food
The Blumental offers a diverse selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes that will delight both early risers and gourmets alike. Open from Monday to Saturday until 5 pm and Sundays until 4 pm, guests can choose from a rich breakfast menu. Highlights include croissants filled with homemade choco or pistachio cream, creative pancakes like Pink Pancakes with sour cherries or Peanut Pancakes with grilled banana and salted caramel. There are also hearty options like French Toast with coconut Dulce de Leche or Overnight Oats Bircher Style. The lunch menu features dishes such as Cabbage Cravings with pointy cabbage and hazelnut-chickpea crunch and Topi de Padrón with smashed topinambur and Pimientos de Padron, to name a few. The main dishes focus on fresh ingredients and are rich in flavor, perfect for anyone wanting a complete, healthy meal. For dessert, the café tempts with vegan choices like Mousse au Chocolat or a delightful Very Cherry chocolate cookie with Blumental foam. The combination of time-tested vegan and vegetarian breakfast, lunch, and sweet delights make Blumental a must-visit for food lovers.
Coffee & Drinks
The drink menu at Blumental is as impressive as its culinary offerings. At the center of its beverage selection is a refined array of coffee that appeals to both coffee purists and adventurous palates. Their filter coffee, brewed from Bonanza Sitio Vargem Grande beans from Brazil, captivates with notes of toffee, dark chocolate, and strawberry jam. Traditional coffee specialties such as Americano, Cappuccino, and Espresso are featured alongside unique variations like Eva's Australian Cappuccino topped with cacao crema. Matcha lovers will enjoy the Matcha Latte made with organic-certified matcha. The exquisite bar and tea menu should not be missed, with highlights like the Espresso Martini with homemade coffee liqueur and fancy sodas like Eva's Matcha Fizz showcasing Blumental's creativity. Moreover, innovative non-alcoholic creations such as the Sober Daiquiri and seasonal cocktails make every visit to Blumental a special experience. A comprehensive selection of sparkling wines, beers, and spirits complements the diverse offerings.
Work and Laptop Friendly
Blumental offers a quiet and relaxed coworking zone away from the café's hustle and bustle, ideally equipped with fast WIFI and plenty of power sockets. In this laptop-friendly environment with bright windows and coffee, guests can perfectly dive into their work. The space is free of charge and available from Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 6 pm and on Friday from 10 am to 6 pm.

Great place for work, but unfortunately food portions are too small for high price
I love to start a random weekday with not quite the “regular breakfast” sometimes. 😁 Today I tried a Café close to where I’ll work today. (Gotta make the most of it 😁) When I first walked in, I was surprised how spacious this place is. A bit like a cantine… BUT fun!! 😎 Lots of plants and some sofas add to the comfortable ambience. 👍🏼 As it’s not possible any other way these days I started with an Iced Latte and from their all vegan (except for “side eggs” if you want them) I went for the “Bella Hi” which was packed with delicious goods and definitely filled me up.🫃🏻 What a great start to the day! 🤩🤤
The wifi is completely unusable, how is it possible that in 2024 a cowork has such slow wifi?
Not a good place to work
Every time I go there it’s a joy! The vibe is wonderful and the warm sweet staff will go beyond to make you feel good and be happy! Perfect place to work in with a designated area for laptops. LOVE this place ♥️
amazing place to either work (got its own co working area!☆) or meet with friends. great specially fine tasting food and super friendly service! will be back:)
AMAZING!! This cafe and bar was beautiful inside, the decor and music provided an incredible atmosphere. I love all the plants around and the yellow plastic curtains right when you walk in the door. I had the amazing Peanut Pancakes, which were TO DIE FOR and my partner had the Wax Benedict, both were so delicious, my jaw dropped. The service was so incredible, the waiters were so kind. I had to tell them how amazing this place is. They even have a coworking space for people to do work on their laptops and work on group projects! Such an amazing place, I am definitely going back.
Amazing place.,... really good to chill and eat some nice food....good place to work as well....very kind and friendly staff
Fantastic place witg laptop and coworking friendly area in the back.
laptop friendly with coworking spaces at no charge and with great service and food. Super creative vegetarian avo toast!
Amazing little Caffe to sit and work. They have an entire area dedicated to people working remote, with plenty of options to charge your laptop and a generous variety of seating options
The coworking space is amazing, the wifi is so good, there is power outlets beside each table, it’s so cozy and comfy, not too quiet and not too loud, everything was perfect. definitely would go again
Horrible co-working space/ cafe: wifi doesn't work properly, super noisy all morning because staff is dragging bottles (seriously, more than 2 hours) and then it was announced that cafe is closing in the middle of the day. 0/5
Super schönes und vor allem großes Café! Hier kann man super mit laptop sitzen. Die Pancakes sind eine 10/10 <3
This place is super cute, and I really loved their mocktails! The only downside is that you can't have your laptop out in the general area, but they have a study and work corner if you want to work on your laptop.
Loved it here! The space is really big, and they even have a separate section for people with laptops. The prices are reasonable, and you can get unlimited free water, which is always a big plus for me. If it were closer to my house, I’d probably go all the time!
The place is very cool looking.
The staff is very nice as well, but I was reading something in my laptop and they asked me to close It which was kinda weird and unexpected.
I ordered a coffee and a cookie that tasted ok..
Very nice location, amazing service, great coffee, light snacks and cakes. Cappuccino is very nice and almost doesn't need sugar, almost! Has wifi and power points. A fantastic place to come and do some work or just chill for a while. Apparently, according to my partner who knows about such things, the Pink Pancakes are amongst the best pancakes in Berlin if not all of Germany. Highly recommended. They don't take cash, although you can leave some for tips.
Food is alright (though there are better brunch spots in Berlin, shakshuka tasted more like tomato paste with an egg for 13€) but the café unfortunately isn’t laptop friendly as advertised (on weekends) which was a bummer because we specifically came here to look through a presentation during brunch. We only found out about this when we had already ordered. I really don’t get it as I don’t believe anyone would’ve been bothered by our laptop as we were also sitting all the way in the back. Unfortunately a reason for me not to come back.
Such a hidden gem!! Natural light, beautiful atmosphere, best coffee I’ve had in Berlin and the food was just delicious. If you’re looking for a new brunch spot with heaps of vegan options or a place to have evening drinks with friends, I can’t recommend it enough! They also have a great co-working area where laptops are allowed 🙏
