About Café Schweizer

About

Café Schweizer, located in Gamla Stan, Stockholm, blends the essence of traditional Swedish "Fika" with global coffee culture influences. Established in 1920, the café has become an integral part of the community, maintaining its charm through the years while embracing change. It stands as one of Sweden's last "Schweizeri"—a term for a small café serving alcohol. Antonio, a pivotal figure, helped shape its legacy and welcomed royalty and international stars to its tables. Now led by Indira, who infuses her Bosnian heritage into the business, the café continues to thrive as a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. Known for its delicious sandwiches, pastries, and refreshing juices, the café emphasizes sustainability by sourcing local and mostly organic ingredients. The menu changes with the seasons, inspired by Sweden's diverse landscapes, offering diners a unique experience each visit. The loyalty program offers exclusive perks without spamming patrons, ensuring they remain a valued part of the Café Schweizer family. Whether indulging in a traditional Swedish smörgåstårta or a fresh cinnamon bun, patrons can enjoy the café's cozy ambiance while savoring its flavorful offerings. Despite the absence of current events, the café's history and dedication to quality continue to draw in guests.

A café with long opening hours in a central location. The guy who was working there gets 5 stars! He was really kind and friendly. The orange juice was very fresh and good quality. The pastry thing had a very nice taste and fresh fruit. Maybe the bready part was not as fresh as the creme and the fruit though. The walls are written with words and quotes in many languages from people that have been there. This can be a bit too much/too busy for the eyes yet cool.

The atmosphere and people working here were absolutely amazing. I only ordered a coffee but they still managed to impress.

Ask for the wifi password! The "free" wifi doesn't work. The food is excellent. The swedish coffee is self service and you can get refills. Super close to the Royal palace and the Nobel museum.

The people working here are incredibly nice and the food was amazing - definitely beyond my expectations. I had the salmon kisch, which comes with a small salad and a watermelon slice. I also had a slice of princess cake, which was amazing. I expected the frosting to be chalky, but it tastes almost like a dessert jelly and was very soft. It's a popular spot, so you may not find seating, but it's definitely worth grabbing it to go and taking it back to your room if it's not warm enough to sit outside.

Found this gem walking around the Old Town. Pretty and cozy inside, friendly and helpful staff, delicious food and good coffee. Lunch for 11€ for Quiche and a refillable cup. Fast wifi. The perfect stop for weary travellers in need of a break. Well done guys

Not the best breakfast we had in stockholm, espresso machine not working, when it did after ordering a cappucino waited for 15 min and still no capu. Left and drank a excelent cappucino elsewhere.

This cafe is actually open from 7am as it says in Google maps. Some others around are not.
Quite confortable place to have breakfast before other shops open.
There is free wifi as well.
