Editing to add reponse to the owner:

1. Your reply is purely to defend your reputation on Google, not because you care about me as a customer. It shows through every word.

2. You show no accountability. Just excuses. Moreover, you have the nerve to tell me what I should have done.

For your info, I check Google review to get a realistic expectation of services. And also for busy times. I came during a work day so it wasn't supposed to be crazy busy.

Also, don't dare tell me I should go to places without table services. I love table service when employees are professional and genuine at least.

3. You're in the service industry, so it's your responsibility to provide a good experience. Shame you're Google-rating oriented but don't genuinely care. Your employee followed protocol. On theory the idea is great. In practice, the execution is terrible.

4. You said your waitress refused the tip - this is not true. She readily accepted the extra tip and was arrogant enough to say, "Thank you but the best tip for me would be a Google review".

So, is that disrespectful to me as a customer?

Yes.

Every human with basic emotional intelligence would be able to pick up on that.

But I guess that's what happens when employees blindly follow protocol & can't think for themselves.

5. I paid to be there - with my time.

And with my money.

So to ask for basic professionalism & respect isn't too much.

Luckily, there are plenty of other places in Budapest who do understand customer service. :)

As mentioned, people can view the rest of my reviews to get a better idea of where to spend their time & money for a much better experience!

Was there recently.

Caution: The owner instructs the waiters to ask clients for a review recommendation (which is fine as long as the waiters do their job).

Here's mine - as honest as it can be because I ended up there thanks to the high rating. And because I believe Google reviews shouldn't be there to "boost" someone's rating artificially.

We were served by Andrea (she asked us to mention her name, so here goes).

In the beginning, we waited a lot to order. The waitress acknowledged that & said she was coming soon after which was nice.

Now, for the things I didn't like & why I wouldn't recommend this cafe:

1. I felt far from cosy because the cafe was busy and we were sat at a small table with a very basic atmosphere. Felt crammed.

2. Value for money: 2 out of 5 stars. The presentation of the food wasn't anything spectacular. The portions were small. My food was hard to eat and falling all over the plate. And it was overpriced for the quantity & quality you get.

3. The thing I disliked the most was how Andrea was constantly passing and asking "Everything okay, anything else I can get you?" To which we politely replied "Everything is fine" & "No thank you, we're good." To that she followed up with "Are you sure?", then later, "Would you like a dessert?". I did say "yes" to a dessert. After that she kept passing by our table every 10 minutes & bothering us with "Anything else I can get you?" At that point it felt like she wanted us to keep ordering or get out.

4. The dessert was overall okay but had a moldy blueberry. I didn't feel like making a problem so didn't complain about it.

5. Here comes the best part: we gave Andrea a tip to which she hastily replied "Oh, thank you buy for me the best tip would be a review" which felt so disrespectful & arrogant after we decided to tip her despite her being more annoying than helpful...

6. Andrea also initiated a conversation with us but it felt super fake, as in forced.

I have no clue if her training was bad or her people skills aren't on point but we really didn't enjoy the experience.

We will not come back there even though we're staying in Budapest for almost a year. Period.

P.S: I've been to much better cafes where the staff isn't pushy and the quality of the food is top notch. Check my other reviews for reference.

This is probably one of the best cafes I've been to in Europe. The service was great, the people were friendly and the food was amazing. They also have wifi and bathrooms as well.
