Incredible!! Everything I ordered was delicious! I got the Macha ube latte (which I highly recommend especially if you like ube), the strawberry matcha db supreme (which was perfectly crunchy despite my eating it 8 hours later), and the mortadello sandwich (which was also delightfully crispy).
The atmosphere is so nice here; it's chic yet comfortable at the same time. If I lived close by, I would be here daily with my laptop, trying a new pastry.
I wish there was more parking, but parking is definitely not too hard to find. You may have to walk for a minute if their lot is full, but it is so worth it!
I finally went there after seeing all the hype but my experience was very underwhelming. The coffee was great but staff were very unwelcoming and almost seemed cocky as they had a busy lineup. They seemed more focused on high turnover than customer experience and I have had much better service at other cafes that are just around the block.
Probably wonât revisit and donât think this place will last very long with this level of customer service. Also they donât have wifi so not ideal if you are planning to work.
Lovely spot with a lot going for it. The service stood out the mostâone of the staff members (didnât catch her name) was especially kind and helpful when my friend needed to make changes to her order, and in general, the team was warm and welcoming throughout our visit.
The space itself is bright and inviting, with great natural light, plenty of seating (both indoor and outdoor), and a clean, minimal aesthetic that still feels cozy. A great vibe overall.
Thereâs a wide range of food options, especially in the pastry selectionâlots of interesting textures and flavors to choose from, which I appreciated.
Definitely a great spot in Surrey for catching up with friends or settling in for some solo time with a book or laptop. Will be back for sure!
The service was disappointing. I ordered an iced mocha, which turned out to be the worst coffee Iâve ever had. On the other hand, the cruller I tried was delicious. Unfortunately, I also noticed a man working in the back kitchen preparing pastries without wearing gloves, a hat, or even proper clothing. This lack of hygiene, combined with the poor service, made the overall experience very unsatisfying.
No wifi lol. You think itâd look prettier for a new place. Some of the staff are at least friendly. Coffee is very mediocre
I had a frustrating experience at this cafe. First the parking is so horrendous. You canât find any in the back, I had some woman end up fighting with me over parking so I left and parked further away. So good luck with parking even in the weekday.
Second, I didnât know there are so many rules in a cafe. I went in, treating it like a Starbucks. Iâve always had an amazing experience there working on my laptop and no one has ever made me feel obligated to buy a drink, Iâve always gone up in about an hour or two into working. I was excited to check it out as it would be a nice and fun study spot. I had a worker come up to me saying I need to buy a drink in order to âsecureâ a spot at the cafe. I found that really interesting. I wouldâve liked to buy my drink on my own accord. However I obliged and got up to order a drink. The mocha was okay, nothing exceptional. I finally got back into my work flow assuming now Iâve got my drink I have âsecuredâ my seat. Another worker came up to now requesting me to move as I took the bigger table which is reserved for larger groups. It was lunch hour but people were in and out and others hardly sitting. The single seat tables heights are so odd and very uncomfortable to work on. I would have moved if there was a large group waiting for a table but I couldnât see anyone actively looking. I got frustrated and ended up leaving. I may expect a lot from a cafe but I have gone to C market in Port Coquitlam and had an amazing time doing work there with very tasty coffee. I felt comfortable and not bothered to do this or that. I feel like if thereâs so many ârulesâ it should be clearly listed out before people come and then get moved around. I couldnât even get an hours worth of work done cause there was always something.
UPDATE: I went here to work on my laptop but they donât have wifi. They have wifi but itâs a 1hr limit, they ask for your email for promotional stuff and itâs an unsecured network.đŁ
Iâm SO excited to have another good coffee shop in Surrey central!
Pros: amazing outdoor seating area, the matcha ube iced latte was great, service excellent, atmosphere beautiful!
Cons: NO wifi, premium prices, which I donât mind if itâs gonna be good, which it was!! Music inside was a little loud so I sat outside.
Really excited to come back and try the coconut Americano!!
Wish I took more pictures/videos! I love the Nemesis Coffee brand. They do an excellent job of designing beautiful, modern spaces, serving creative and delicious food, and offering thoughtful and attentive service. The new Central City space was no exception. The bright open space was refreshing compared to my home, especially on a grey, rainy day. Everything was immaculate, including the washroom.
Some things to note:
- There's lots of parking nearby, mostly paid, with some limited free parking (max 2 hrs).
- wifi is available for one hour.
- If eating in, you must order first and the staff will assign a table/seat for your party. Personally, I like that system. It's effective and fair.
All in all, this is one of my faves and I will be back.
The tiramisu croissant was great! The danish was not danishing. very little custard. Their matcha was lacking as well! But they are known for coffee and their brunch menu so do give them a try! Ube matcha had an interesting taste! Iâve never had a good ube matcha at all so maybe iâm just not a fan of it! People there are nice as well! Good spot for study/working for sure.
The food is fantastic. The people working are incredibly nice which is a nice refreshment in the neighbourhood. They will go out of their way to make sure youâre comfortable.
The coffee is good - itâs the one place I donât add sweetener to my latteâŠ.but sometimes ifs too acidic - if there was one thing I could say - it would be to keep the most popular beans with the most balanced taste. As it seems they switch them up? I could be wrong though.
I didnât know they didnât accept cash. Thatâs odd but aside from that I love this place, the atmosphere is like I am in Vancouver, which is something I miss since moving to Surrey.
Love it! Iâm craving the food just writing this..
Their coffee and croissant were good.
They didn't have enough tables for their space. I hardly got a table on the bar seat on a weekday. The barista assigned the seat and served what I ordered with a glass of water.
Their wifi is limited only for an hour.
Legit the best breakie Iâve eaten in a long time. Bennie on point. Savoury and sweet both equally perfect. Great espresso and lovely humans working here
Having been to other Nemesis locations, I had high expectations for the new Surrey location. Though I enjoyed my latte, the blackberry bergamot was extremely tough and chewy - not what I expected from a cafe first thing in the morning. The ambience was nice, with floor to ceiling windows and modern decor. However, there were no outlets available and wifi was limited to one hour, so don't expect to study or work here for long if you need internet access.
Not worth the visit for a $7 coffee, sub par service and no wifi.
Only one person was working when we arrived but he was very efficient and had great customer service skills. I just love their pull apart. Next time, I'll try the chicken sandwich.
A friend and I came in and had coffee and weâre working on our laptops. The say there is a 90 minute limit so I had ordered a second coffee not knowing. The staff came up to us and told us that our 90 min was up. There was people there before us and he didnât say anything to them. The place was half empty as well . I understand if the tables were full I would have gladly left. I asked him if I could just finish my second coffee he said no and brought me a to go cup. He was very rude. Would never go back.
First impression - whoever designs those speakers out in the garden is a genius. The sound travels between the speakers perfectly.
And the space itself is very spacious, airy even. High ceiling, loads of natural light, and seatings that are not cramped at all. Plenty of plugs. Free wifi from the building (not Nemesis' wifi). Music choice is also top notch, a good mix between classic old school hip hop, with funk soul, soul r&b, and the tracks that inspired what hip hop is today.
Furniture wise, the bench along the wall in the back - the comfiest wooden bench I have ever sat on in Vancouver. Yall out here doing god's work, saving my lumbar.
Drinks and foods wise, great selection of beans. Flavourful. And a delight to have in Surrey.
