About "Seneca Anticafe"

About

Seneca Anticafe in Bucharest is much more than a café – it's a multifunctional space dedicated to meaningful time. Combining a professional co-working area, an extensive library, event and workshop venues, and an open kitchen, this venue invites guests to read, work, relax, and connect. Their philosophy emphasizes the value of time and community over mere consumption: guests pay for the hours spent on site, which includes unlimited coffee, tea, water, and light snacks. Seneca Anticafe is committed to sustainability, being recognized as Romania’s first 'green publishing house' and paying careful attention to ecological responsibility (for example, books are printed on recycled paper). The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, encouraging personal growth, creativity, and collaboration. Frequent events, book launches, workshops, and art exhibitions foster a sense of community engagement. Whether for students, professionals, or anyone curious and eager to learn, Seneca Anticafe is a place to meet, grow, and make ideas happen.

Food

Guests are encouraged to help themselves, creating a relaxed and homely atmosphere. The snack selection is ideal for those spending extended periods at the Anticafe—be it for working, studying, or unwinding. Occasionally, the venue hosts workshops on sustainable cooking and plastic-free initiatives.

Coffee & Drinks

The drink selection at Seneca Anticafe includes unlimited coffee, a variety of teas, water, and lemonade, all included in the time-based fee. Guests serve themselves, which adds to the relaxed, community-oriented atmosphere. The concept emphasizes open, democratic access to coffee and tea, encouraging a sense of shared space rather than traditional consumption. No specific information about coffee preparation methods or origin is provided in the available text.

The place has plenty of space. There is a fee for each hour you spend there. The kitchen area is well provided. At times, it can get crowded and people can be loud. The staff is not always friendly. You can also print stuff and read their books while you are there. Overall, a good place to work on your laptop or read.

Seneca Anticafe is a truly wonderful place , the perfect embodiment of the anticafe concept. From the moment you enter, you feel the shift into a calmer, more inspiring atmosphere, far from the rhythm of everyday work. It’s a space where creativity flows naturally, whether you come to read, study, write, or simply enjoy a quiet moment.
The tea selection is exceptional, carefully chosen, flavorful, and served with the kind of warmth that makes you feel instantly at home. Everything about this place encourages you to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with your thoughts.
Seneca Anticafe is more than a café; it’s a refuge of inspiration and relaxation. A beautiful spot to recharge and step into a different mood than your usual working days. Highly recommended.

We need a mask just to type on our laptop. It doesn't make sense.
Better going to other places

We had a bookclub there. The working space is lovely, nice coffee and treats. Good choice of books, very nice interior design. Very kind staff.

I liked working from here. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Amazing place to read / work / study.
Nice and friendly, english speaking staff.

Good choice of romanian, french and english books, as well as wifi and plugs for your computer and phone.

It’s one of the best places to study in Bucharest!

Cozy, quiet, really good for working on a laptop

Andreea Szilagyi29.11.2025

My office away of home. I can focus, smell the books, stay motivated by being surrounded by other people that are working in silence. 12 RON/hour is not super cheap for Romanians, but if you plan to stay longer, you only pay for the first 5 hours. Simple snacks included. Fruit, cookies sometimes, tea, good quality coffee, lemonade, filtered water.

A nice addition to the nascent coworking scene, albeit with a business and pricing model definitely slanted towards the very short-term, hot-desk clientele. No medium/longer term plans. The space doubles as bookstore, all work areas open. Quiet, properly furnished, wifi, printer, open snacks & drinks corner. Pick your favourite writer bookmark as token/persona during your stay. Worth a visit.

One of my favorite places in Bucharest. Great concept, perfect for working, studying or learning. I have looked for places like this in other European cities, and I couldn’t find any.

Sorina Dinu29.11.2025

I loved it. The library, the co-working place, the events room. The concept.
It's a little too far from my place, but it's okay.

Un loc minunat pentru a lucra liniștit pe laptop și foarte corect ca preț

Diana B.29.11.2025

Both bookstore and working space. Charming atmosphere!

Jed George29.11.2025

12 lei/ora 9AM-9PM

Librarie / biblioteca / cafenea / ceainărie, loc liniștit ideal pt citit, lucrat pe laptop...

Alex Tomescu29.11.2025

I have worked here while in Bucharest for a week and I can definitely say it was the best decision. I was much more productive than I would have been working from a normal coffee shop. They have some teas, crackers and fruit which you can serve during your stay. They don't offer too much stuff though. But you can order and use their kitchen.
The whole week I was here no one disturbed anyone and people are very respectful. After 5 hours the amount you have to pay caps at 40 Ron. They also have a small room I've used for Video Calling people at my office. When tired you can stroll through the library and look at books or you can go get a cup of coffee from next door (they have a 30% discount for coffee)
Overall I really recommend it!
