I had expected a better mole cake, to be honest. Apart from that atmosphere is amazing. The only bad thing is the wifi is really slow and not functioning properly.
Wonderful place to sit down with your laptop and spent some time with your work. Good coffee, desserts, sandwiches. A lot of place to sit but sometimes it is crowded. Have student discounts. A lot of outlets to plug in, amazing interior, two floors and one upper isolated one.
Great and reasonable prices. About 200 TL for several drinks and sandwich.
Everybody is working around. working atmosphere
Lovely place to work/study. Comfy chairs and wifi. If you come with a crew bare in mind that this place can get crowded sometimes. Great coffee and desserts! Super close to Şişhane metro (3 min)
Really nice and calm place. Saw some people working there too, which could be nice. Service was friendly.
The worst wifi connection ever and the management never bothered to fix it since the business started. Apparently the space is designed as a working space for students, freelancers; shared tables etc. but when it comes to internet you never achieve to get connected. This is 2017, just hire a decent IT guy and have it fixed, you don't have a right to steal from people's limited time. Then you can focus on your bad coffee and terrible herbal teas.
An ideal place to work on a laptop. This is a bookstore that has been able to adapt to present conditions for the introduction of technology. There are many cozy armchairs and tables with chairs where you can comfortably sit and work for several hours. Wide selection of drinks, coffee and beer. There are also delicious cakes here, I took a vegetarian pie.
It would be five stars, but the only way to get wifi is with a Turkish phone number, and even then, the internet connection is very slow. However, everything else is fantastic.
Pretends to be small on the outside, while in reality it's home to heaps of tables and two ordering locations, which both insist on table service.
There are as many sockets as German books on chemistry and Turkish books on Hungarian art (i.e. many).
Much appreciated:
👌 secluded room on at the very top, which I adopted as a call room.
👌 offer to leave a suitcase downstairs for storage,
👌 help with connecting to wifi (even if unsuccessful: to access the free wifi there, you need a Turkish phone number).
A perfect place to work from AND have a coffee too.
It’s a great bookstore and a great space in general, we spent many evenings and afternoons here. Too bad that the food here is merely an afterthought. None of the desserts they sell tastes fresh or good so we ended up ordering only drinks which are decent. The wifi is very weak too.
I love the ambiance of this place, and I would prefer it to become a self service working environment… the staff are very nice and the idea of drinking beer while working is so funny
The atmosphere is spectacular, a nice place to grab your laptop and sit and work.
Coffee was not bad, drinkable.
From a german named cafe i expected the german cake to be authentic but it turned out too sweet and the cake part was too dry.
The apple pie was not buttery at all, I was looking for some fat in it 😅
Although the dessert looked so welcoming but the taste dissapointed me.
Ask for a caramel latte with little syrup, it was excellent. But wifi sucks so badly therefore I don't recommend studying even though the number of tables and seats is good
If you wanna go somewhere posh and chill, that is the right place. workers look cool, place look cool, etc. However, if you look for profound quality, go somewhere else. I happened to experience once that the cashier was furious with a waiter, and she was crying out loud. I was trying to work with a coworker there on a nearby table, and we were extremely disturbed by the attitude of that cashier. Also, waiters are somehow too comfortable while working. Not really my cup of tea. If you want some respect and a quite place, go somewhere else. AND, for a big place, there is just one toilet. Be prepared to wait.
A very nice place to relax and meet interesting people, both locals and foreigners, who all seem to know this a secret special spot to escape busy Istiklal. Upstairs is also excellent to do some work on a laptop while sipping on a tasty coffee. Besides the variety of coffees and teas they also serve other beverages including a variety of bottled beers although Erdinger and Bomonti were not available when I visited last time. And don't forget, it is a bookstore too 😉
I have come to that place so many times! I love it, it's such a lovely space to drink some coffee and read, chat or just have some chill time in the middle of the city. Drinking some coffee either a cappuccino or a Turkish kahve is a nice idea. I also tried the cakes this time. I must say that I didn't like them that much. They didn't give me that sparkle that I needed from a cake, maybe some taste, some lemon notes or orange flavor. Maybe they weren't that fresh... I'm not sure. But definitely the staff, the people working there have been always really nice and kind!!! I always like the interactions with them :) good choice and you should certainly visit it
Great coffee, decent wifi. Halfway between a library and a coffee shop. Very comfortable to work for a few hours. Upstairs is light and airy and the cakes are good too. Beer wine and cocktails served to for the end of your working day.
very very nice place.. they brew their own coffee.. staff is very kind.. cheese cake is delicious.. nice place to work with your laptop also
Nice working area and friendly staff. Unfortunately they have a wifi problem. For one, it is slow on the upstairs. Second, it requires a Turkish phone number to login which excludes tourists (we are in a highly touristic area). Please fix this.
This is my favorite café. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the service is excellent. It’s the kind of place where you can spend hours talking, reading, or working comfortably. They serve some of the best coffee I’ve ever had, and the desserts are also worth trying. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy quality time. ☕✨
Café-bookstore, nice atmosphere, more expensive than cafés in Paris but wifi was so poor. The signal was not strong enough while requiring a Turkish phone number. Staff there refused to help solve wifi problems while hurried to take away my coffee not finished yet.
AC is barely working. At second floor just no air to breath.
Dirty latte had terrible taste. Kis had no taste at all and was served cold.
But ambience is nice
Very Cosy Place to Hangout, Communicate, Read Books or work on your laptop
The coffee is okay, but the prices are higher than average for Turkey. Employees also seemed kind.
Probably the most annoying wifi sign-up, it didn't want to work with my number. It probably works better with a Turkish number, but why does it ask for a passport number? How odd.
Anyways, it feels like we wasted our time in a place where wifi didn't work for us.
Before the renovation it was just a usual bookstore. But after the renovation it turned into a great coffee store where you can grab a bite, get a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy a delicious dessert. With its great capacity, warm and quiet atmosphere Turkish-German Bookstore is also a nice place to work, a very laptop friendly space.
But all these nice qualities comes with consequences. It might be a little bit expensive, which is understandable but the main problem is that it's always too crowded. So if you want to study, you have to do there as early as you can so that you can find a nice spot for yourself.
Still, it's the place where you can quietly work, study and enjoy your meal and coffee.
Great place to relax with a beverage and read a book or work on your laptop. Beer and wine now available
Great atmosphere. The best place for chilling and reading a book/working with your laptop. The coffee wasn't that great, though
