Such a heartwarming welcome to Helsinki! The nicest and warmest people working here, and delicious baguettes, coffee and caramel cake.
Really not impressed with this place. It has a lot of potential and history but does not live up to it at all. The place is staffed with inexperienced summer working kids and the service as a result is catastrophic. We spent 30+ minutes waiting for a four item order that required nothing but plating.
This is a pricey place, so spend your money elsewhere.
This place is a classic but my experience was just very bad.
I arrived to the store part of Ekberg to buy a cake. I was carrying a 3 year old girl on my shoulders and a baby of 1 and a 1/2 in a baby stroller. I wanted to buy a cake for my daughter’s birthday and it was 18:04 on Friday 12th of August.
The lady working arrived at the door from the inside, blocked me and told me they are closed. I said “but we are here and it’d be a minute, I want to buy a cake”, she didn’t even look at my face and said “sorry we are closed” while closing the door on me.
That’s Eckberg in 2022 for you. I’ve lived in Finland for more than a decade and some shops just don’t have any care for the customer at all, there will always be more.
Nice place for a coffee and a sweet..
Excellent service and free wifi 👌
